My Baby Hummer’s First Trip to the Feeder
I am so blessed to have hummingbirds arrive the end of March or the first week of April, and they stay until the middle of October. So I honestly have hummers about 6 months out of the year.
I am thankful for the visits over the summer, and I can say I stay quite busy cleaning and filling feeders. Not to mention always having my camera with me, and snapping thousands of pictures.
I do post the highlights but there are so many great ones that I have decided to use my bog to help remember some of the special moments over these next few months as the cold weather approaches. I hope they will brighten your heart and help us remember those sunny hummer filled days until they return.
I have so many trees in my yard that it is quite hard to find a hummingbird nest. I am still searching each summer and I expect that I will see one. I know they are there because I often have baby hummers at my feeders.
One day in August while I was snapping a few pictures, I had this little hummer come to the feeder and just almost laid down. It was so cute. he had short little tail feathers and wings, and you can see his little beak is short. It is too early to tell if it is a male or female.
The Mommy hummer was always close and she encouraged the baby to drink and I was able to get a few shots of this beautiful sight. I didn’t get more pictures because I honestly just sat and watched. It was one of the most precious moments I had this summer with my beautiful birds.
I certainly will be happy to see my little hummer come back in the spring and raise its own family.
Love and Hugs,
